Halloween Jello Shots is a fun recipe that takes three classic flavors of Jell-O (grape, orange, and lime), adds a bit of vodka for a kick, and then layers them into adorable little cups for the best adult Halloween treat.

Halloween Jello Shots Ingredients

To make these Halloween shots, you will need the following ingredients (see the recipe card below for exact amounts):

  • Lime Jell-O
  • Grape Jell-O
  • Orange Jell-O
  • Water
  • Vodka: I definitely suggest Smirnoff or another, better brand of vodka as the cheaper brands make the shots taste bitter and aren’t as smooth going down.

How to Make Halloween Jell-O Shots

  1. Line your cups up on a standard baking sheet, without the lids.
  2. In one of the bowls, combine the green Jell-O and 1 cup of boiling water.
  3. Whisk until the Jell-O is fully dissolved.
  4. Add ½ cup of the vodka and ½ cup of the cold water to the mix and stir well.
  5. Pour about 0.75 ounces of the green Jell-O into each cup and place in the fridge to chill for 1 hour.
  6. Repeat steps 2-4, but use the orange Jell-O and only pour 0.5 ounces on top of the chilled green Jell-O.
  7. Place back in the fridge to chill for another hour.
  8. Repeat steps 2-4 with the purple Jell-O this time and pour 0.75 ounces over the chilled orange Jell-O
  9. Place back in the fridge to chill for another hour.
  10. Place the lids on the cups, serve, and enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Do not pour the next Jell-O flavor over the previous flavor too early. This will blend them and you won’t get your clearly defined layers of color.
  • It’s so much easier to use a baking sheet to haul them back and forth from the fridge. Trust me on this one.
  • The baking syringe was my saving grace. Using the pourable measuring cup did just fine, but it made a bit more of a mess.
  • It’s pretty easy to eyeball how much you’re pouring in. It doesn’t have to be exact measurements.

Can I Use Other Jello Flavors?

You can use other flavors of Jell-O if they’re the correct colors. However, these flavors went together seamlessly.

Can I Make These Shots Even Boozier?

Do not add more vodka. These are pretty strong already, however, if you add more vodka, it could cause the shots to not set up properly.
