Whipped ricotta dip is a creamy and savory appetizer with a delightful combination of flavors. This ricotta dip is light and airy and whipped to perfection. As easy as easy can be, this eye-catching dish is perfect for any dinner party or a casual get together.
Why You’ll Love This Dip
It is SO flavorful! The whipped ricotta dip is topped with honey, salt, red pepper flakes, and thyme.
Ready in a jiffy! It only takes 5 minutes to make this mouthwatering dip.
Super versatile! This dip is great as is, or makes a really nice spread.
Whipped Ricotta Ingredients
To make this dip, you will need the following ingredients (see the recipe card below for exact amounts):
- Ricotta cheese
- Honey
- Thyme leaves: The thyme can be substituted with basil, parsley, or mint. The thyme does make this recipe extra special.
- Red pepper flakes
- Lemon zest
- Salt and pepper
How to Whip Ricotta Cheese
- Place the ricotta in a medium-sized bowl. Whip with a hand mixer over medium speed for 2 minutes or until it is smooth and creamy.
- Transfer to a serving dish.
- Top with honey, thyme, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.
- Serve immediately or within a few hours of making the dip.
Serving Suggestions
We love to serve this dip with crackers, vegetables (cucumbers, red or yellow bell peppers, and carrots), or crusty toasted bread. You can add this dip to sandwiches or to flatbread pizzas.
You can even serve it warm! Just bake the dip at 350° F for 15 minutes and then top it with the ingredients.
Variations
You can top the dip with lemon juice, garbanzo beans, red bell peppers, roasted garlic, or cayenne pepper. The skies are the limit, as you can experiment and try any flavors you think will go well together.
Storage Instructions
You can store the leftover dip in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Can I Make this Recipe Ahead of Time?
If you plan on making this ahead of time I would wait to add the toppings until just before serving. You can whip this up 2 days ahead of time. Please note that once the dip sits it will release a bit of water, as ricotta is a high-moisture cheese. You will also need to add more toppings to the dip before serving if it will be placed in the fridge overnight or longer.
