For the Spiced Simple Syrup:

For the Gingerbread Old Fashioned:

bourbon
or rye

spiced simple syrup
or to taste

Instructions
For the Spiced Simple Syrup:
In a small saucepan, combine the water, light brown sugar, molasses, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Then remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
Transfer the simple syrup to an airtight container and store in the fridge until ready to use, or up to 10 days.
For the Gingerbread Old Fashioned:
Add the bourbon, spiced simple syrup, and bitters to a lowball glass and stir to combine.
Add a large ice cube (or a few small ones) and stir gently again. Enjoy immediately.
